With Jesus during the day

“He said to them, ‘who do you say that I am?'” (Mt. 16:16). At this break in my day, in this specific moment, who is Jesus for me? What can I say to Jesus? In whom do I see him? Can I respond to him as Peter did? “You are the Messiah, the son of the living God.” I start my day up again, resolving to put Christ at the center of my activities, aware that such an interior attitude builds a Church open to others.

Enter into the quiet of the day as it comes to a close. Recall the details of today that stick with you and thank God for them. Recall your words and actions. Were they like those of Jesus? Did you allow him to look through your eyes and speak with your mouth? Were you able to welcome his invitation to a personal friendship with you today? Keep in mind that the Lord does not want to do anything without you. He gives you his spirit and counts on you to express his love and friendship to the world.
