I appreciate this new day and offer myself to the Lord. Today, we celebrate St. John Vianney, patron of Parish priests. I give thanks to God for this particular vocation of service to the Church. I commend the priests in charge of parishes, those with whom I have or had a connection. A cheerful ministry is a ministry that always goes out. To “go out” takes us on a path that is “sometimes forward, sometimes in the middle, and sometimes behind… because people need a sense of direction. Those who have a sense of direction in finding new paths to walk on have the sensus fidei” (Pope Francis). Our Father…

With Jesus during the day

I take a break in the day. How is my “priestly heart” towards all those called in baptism? How do I direct my life, my tasks, and my projects towards the Father? I can think of anyone who I know or might suspect to be discerning a vocation to the ordained priesthood. “If we understood well what a priest on Earth is, we would die, not out of fear, but out of love” (St. John Vianney). Before resuming your day, pray for your parish priest.

Become aware of the day’s events, gratefully recalling all of God’s gifts. Contemplate your decisions. Were you able to think through everything, sticking only with what is good? Did you choose the best, or that which gives life to you and others? Did you love more than yesterday? Ask forgivenss if your decision-making wasn’t good, and open yourself to the Spirit of God so that tomorrow, you may choose the things that matter in eternity. Hail Mary…
