With Jesus in the morning

I open my heart to the new day, making myself available to hear the Lord’s voice in my heart so that the good grain grows among the bad. “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field” (Mt. 13:36). God knows how to wait; “He looks at the life of each person with patience and mercy, seeing much better than we can the dirtiness and evil, but also seeing the seeds of goodness and hope with confidence that they will grow” (Pope Francis). I will look patiently on those who are different than me, without desire to correct everything or distance myself. Patience achieves everything. Our Father…

With Jesus during the day

I take a break in the evening, letting the Lord encounter me. Only this way will I be able to go out and encounter my neighbors. “What matters is to create spaces for encounter, spaces that build people who know how to welcome differences. Let us arm our children with the weapons for dialogue! Let us teach them the good fight for encountering others!” (Pope Francis) At times, we stay distant from other people, old resentments or those with whom we have had conflict, and this paralyzes us and blocks us from drawing near to one another. Who is waiting for me to draw near or waiting for an invitation for dialogue?

Calm your thoughts and focus on your breathing. Recall the day, thinking of the encounters you had and reflecting on how they went. How was your communication? Did you make room for dialogue and openness? Did you create relationships, or did you remain distant and indifferent? Did you promote connection above and beyond differences? Note the things you discover, and make a resolution to grow in openess to others in the next interactions you have. Hail Mary…
