I graciously receive the day that the Lord has given to me, a gift to take care of and a talent to treasure. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened” (Mt. 13:33). The Lord invites us to silent and discreet service, hidden yet productive, that helps to transform everything around us. Do I ensure that my words and dialogue are like yeast in bread? With Jesus during the day

I stop at the halfway point of this day and take a break to look back at how I am going about the challenge to start dialogue before difficulties arise. “Social peace is hardworking and handcrafted. Integrating those who are different from us is much slower and more difficult, even if the promise of peace is real and concrete” (Pope Francis). Sometimes, we take paths that are quicker, applying ‘more effective’ solutions that leave people out and causing them to suffer unjust consequences. How have I lived out these realities? What have I done to include others in place of separating from them? At times, silence is consent to unjust situations.

Take a moment to close out your day in prayer. Be thankful for the people, places, and moments of today. How have the encounters with your neighbors been? Do you remember any that made you uncomfortable or angry? Are you holding on to resentment or grudges? Look into your heart and get rid of the things that don’t help.
