With Jesus in the morning

Start the morning thankful for the Father’s mercy, which sustains our lives day by day. “As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And he got up and followed him” (Mt. 9:9). “Taking an interest in one another, expressing oneself, listening to one another, paying attention to one another, getting to know one another, looking for common ground: all of this is included in the word ‘dialogue.’ To encounter and help each other, we need to have dialogue” (Pope Francis). With Jesus during the day

Take a break in the day to encounter the Lord. The seed that the Lord has sown in our hearts must grow in other people, just as Jesus did. We are called to go out and search, not to stay in our comfort zone. In my community, do I stay only with “my group,” or did I open myself to knowing and interacting with others? Do I accept other ways of doing things, or do I stick only to what I know? The Lord is wine, but am I a new wineskin?

Calm your thoughts and focus on your breathing. Recall the day, thinking of the encounters you had and reflecting on how they went. How was your communication? Did you make room for dialogue and openness? Did you create relationships, or did you remain distant and indifferent? Did you promote connection above and beyond differences? Note the things you discover, and make a resolution to grow in openess to others in the next interactions you have. Hail Mary…
