With Jesus in the morning

I wake up on this day asking the Spirit of the Lord to wake me up. Not just from sleep, but from all the spiritual drowsiness that robs me of joy. The Gospel of this day of Pentecost says: “Having said this, he breathed on them and said: Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20: 22) I ask Jesus to breathe in me in the same way. How does the heart react to this breath? What desires arise within me? How does this breath turn my gaze on this day? Be joyfully thankful and, with Mary, offer your day for the Pope’s intentions for this month, as well as for the preparation of World Youth Day 2023. Our Father…

“Let us not forget that prayerful discernment forces us from the predisposition to listen: to the Lord, to others, the same reality that never ceases to question us in new ways” (Pope Francis, Gaudete and exsultate no 172). God speaks to me in a thousand ways so that I can listen to him with all my being. He speaks of his word, of other people, and of various situations. To speak to me, he offers, through the Holy Spirit, small signs to the heart that allow me to discern his voice. In particular, he leaves his signature on my heart with lasting peace and joy. I will seek to be attentive to this touch of God throughout the afternoon, so that I can love and follow him.

With Jesus in the night

Take a break to close out the day. Focus on your breathing. Relive the day following with your imagination the things that you have had to work with. Be grateful for the means at your fingertips, clothes, food, things around the house. What else do you want to be thankful for? Are there things that don’t help you, distract you, or make you attached? Ask for forgiveness and propose to share what you have. Hail Mary…
