Today we celebrate Our Lady of Fatima. Some shepherds “saw” and “listened” to Our Lady for a time. That “vision” changed their lives. The apostles also saw and heard Jesus, and they followed him. Walking next to him transformed their lives. After a few years at their side, Jesus warns them: “In a short time you will no longer see me” (John 16:16-20). Pick yourself up, simply, in a moment of prayer. Pope Francis recommends to us: “We must recognize the ‘accounting book’ of life itself, of human dignity, of survival, because what is the use of a man winning the whole world if he later loses his life?” Check your “ledger” this morning. What do you have to write down? What are the main “inputs and outputs” or “assets and duties” of your day? Review these in your prayer. What do you want to be thankful for and what do you want to ask for forgiveness?

You have lived one more day. Discover how the Lord has helped you spend it. Distance yourself from the events and enter the silence. What feelings inhabit your heart? The time has been given to you to serve the Lord and your brothers and sisters. How has your attitude been in your tasks? Have you served others? Gratuity is a sign of service.
