Lord, on this day when we celebrate the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, I give you thanks for showing us that your life is a union of love and that is how you want us all to be united in charity. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). I ask you, Lord, for the grace of being close to those I meet. I offer you my day, in union with Pope Francis’ intention of prayer for this month, for all who suffer, so that they can be touched by the Heart of Jesus. Our Father…

“Mercy reveals the Most Holy Trinity” (Pope Francis). The word “mercy” derives from the combination of two Latin words, miserere and cordis. The first, “having compassion for” means having the ability to be moved by the pain of the other. The second word means “heart,” a space where emotions and feelings spring up. Mercy can be said to be, “compassion that comes from the heart.” We make many mistakes, but the Trinity pours his mercy on us. God the Father sent his Son to redeem us, Jesus makes himself bread and is among us and the Holy Spirit remains with us and distributes his gifts to us. So much love the Holy Trinity has for us! How have I returned this love?
