In this month of April, Pope Francis invites us to pray that those suffering from addiction may be helped and accompanied. There are many addictions in this world, such as alcohol, drugs, gambling and pornography. By listening to the Word of this day, I note in my prayer a person I know who is in this situation, praying that the Lord help set him/her free. ” If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32). Thinking of people suffering from addiction, I listen to the words of Pope Francis: “It is essential to pay attention to the new forms of poverty and fragility in which we are called to recognize the suffering Christ: the homeless shelter, drug addicts … I would like us to listen to the cry of God who asks us: ‘Where is your brother?’ (Gen 4:9)” Lord, I offer you my day, open my heart to the cry of my brothers and sisters.
