In the Church today we meditate on the great commandment: “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 12:29-30). We want to live from this love for you, Lord, where we are, in communion with the Catholics in China, called to live the encounter with people who have a history, ideas, and diverse sensibilities. May they be, and may we, too, be architects of unity. Lord, make us peace workers.

“For my part, I have always looked at China as a land rich in great opportunities and the Chinese people as craftsman and guardians of an invaluable heritage of culture and wisdom, which has been refined by resisting adversity and integrating diversities, and which, not by chance, since ancient times came into contact with the Christian message. As Fr. Matteo Ricci, a Jesuit said with great sagacity: ‘Before entering into friendship, one must observe, after having contracted it, one must trust.’” (Pope Francis) Allow, Lord, the Catholics of China to live friendship in you, and between themselves.

Step back from today’s activities. Look at what you experienced and discover how God acted within you. For what are you grateful? What good did you do today? What did those moments leave in your heart? Have you acted with generosity and dedication in your tasks, meetings and breaks? Think about something you would like to do differently tomorrow. Hail Mary…
