Today we go to meet the Lord. “The publican went down to his house justified, and the Pharisee did not.” (Luke 18:9-14). “The Pharisee feels fair, feels in order, struts this and judges others from the top of his pedestal. The publican, on the other hand, does not use many words. His prayer is humble, sober, imbued with the conscience of his own unworthiness, of his own misery: this man truly recognizes himself in need of God’s forgiveness, of God’s mercy.” (Pope Francis) Find an opportune moment today to pray with family in simplicity and humility. Offer your thoughts, words and deeds for the intention of the Holy Father for this month. Our Father….

The missionary of the 21st century must become aware of his surroundings. Observation and listening to those who will be recipients of your message are vital. It is necessary to embrace, to be open, and welcome. “I wish that, as Christians, we would be able to stand by the sick like Jesus, with silence, with a caress, with prayer. Our society, unfortunately, is contaminated by the culture of discarding.” (Pope Francis) What spirit encourages your missionary work? Ask the Lord to guide you in your daily activities.

Walk through your day and appreciate what you experienced today. When we grow in relationship with God we learn to identify the voice of the Spirit in our heart, distinguishing it from “other” voices. Rest and breathe slowly as you pray tonight. When have you felt fullness in your life? What events disturbed you and made you lose peace? What conversations helped you and which ones did not? Write down what you discover and try to maintain peace in your heart tomorrow. Hail Mary….
