Today we commemorate St. John XXIII, a “good shepherd” of the Church. “The Kingdom of God has come to you.” (Luke 11:15-26). “We must not be naive. The Lord gives us some criteria to discern the presence of evil and to follow the Christian path when there are temptations. We must always watch against deception, against the seduction of the evil one.” (Pope Francis) The devil is cunning. Watch your heart today and follow the example of St. John XXIII. Offer all your thoughts, words and deeds today for the intention of the Pope for this month. Our Father….

Given the challenges posed by today’s world, it is worth stopping to review your relationship with God, being aware of his announcement that the Kingdom of God has arrived. Do you live in doubt, lukewarmness or despair? What do you need to grow in relationship with God in order to maintain a firm decision to follow Jesus and his Gospel?

Calm your senses down at the end of the day. Look inside your heart by closing your eyes and taking a moment of silence. Go through your day and ponder the people, places, situations, and conversations you encountered. What resonates in your heart? What feelings do you have? What moves you? Take note of what you discover and resolve to follow God more closely tomorrow. Hail Mary….
